We are all well aware that exercise in general is key when it comes to improving and maintaining our health and how we feel!

Overall we know from science  that daily exercise can significantly lower the risk of certain major chronic illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

But it doesn’t stop there! There are countless benefits to list that are specific to different parts of the body that affect your day to day activities, as well as increased cognitive function, mood and alertness.

But what health perks do we get from boxing specifically?

When it comes to boxing, there are plenty of benefits that come alongside your hard workout in class! A few to mention include:

- Strengthens upper body and core: The mechanics behind boxing involve lots of movement that builds muscle in your arms, and in turn your core. This ultimately helps improve your posture, which helps prevent back pain and injury throughout the body.

- Boosts endurance: The more you practice, the longer you can perform (not just in boxing class, but in other physically demanding situations as well.) Continuously lengthening the amount of time you are boxing builds up your stamina which will allow you to keep going!

- Improves hand-eye coordination: Practicing throwing jabs, hooks and every other punch while reacting to your opponent quickly helps with your response time. Repetitive movements allow your body to react quicker and more accurately over time simultaneously with sight (which is pretty important when throwing and dodging punches! But also very helpful in many daily tasks.)

- Improves balance: With all the extra work on your core and full body, this builds muscle that helps stabilize your center of gravity, making it pretty hard to knock you off your feet, and this helps your balance become stronger over time.

Here at Legends we want to help you succeed and lead a healthy life by pushing you toward achieving your goals both inside the gym and out! But the list of benefits could go on and on, showing up for class can start to increase your overall health both physically and mentally when you stick to it over time!
