Your name: Mary Bevins

Job title: CEO

In a few sentences, please briefly explain your role here at HQ: As CEO, I’m primarily responsible for the day to day operations of our business and team, working with my team to create, improve, and implement systems and processes to maintain quality and consistency across the organization.

I work closely with department heads to keep everything running smoothly and constantly moving the needle. As we continue to grow, it’s also very important that we innovate to stay relevant and continue to provide value and a high quality experience to every Legends member.

I also am responsible for our product line. I work closely with our designer from conception to final product. Our gloves, apparel, and accessories are all custom made and there’s a lot that goes into getting it just right.

How did you get involved with Legends Boxing? Let’s hear the story behind how you joined the team.

Almost 5 years ago I was working at a software company in the social media analytics department as the manager. After 2 years with the company, I had learned all that I could in that position and was ready to make the next move in my career. I saw a job posting for a Marketing Manager with Legends Boxing, located in the same city I lived in. As someone who is passionate about fitness and now had a strong background in marketing, it was a very exciting opportunity for me. I joined the Legends team in 2017 right as we were starting to launch into franchising and as we were running a skeleton crew, there was a lot to be done, a lot of hats to wear, and as such, a lot of opportunities to grow with the company and so much to learn. Joining the team with Legends has by far been the best professional decision I’ve ever made and the biggest opportunity that I came across at just the right time. I’m so grateful for all that’s happened and the growth that I’ve made not only professionally but personally, since joining Legends.

Tell us a little bit about who you are outside of work. You can mention your family, pets, hobbies, etc.

A little about my personal life and who I am outside of work; I’m a single parent to an amazing teenage daughter. She’s an incredibly talented athlete and cheers on the local high school Sophomore cheerleading team as well as the JV competition cheer team. She’s a fun, smart, and kind individual that constantly makes me proud.

I used to call myself an endurance athlete… I have run 13 full marathons, countless shorter distance races, and absolutely love trail running. Life has been pretty busy lately so my priorities have changed and running has taken a back seat. But I hope to be able to get back in one day!

In my free time, I love spending time with friends, going to concerts, and I’ve recently started making an effort to travel. There’s so little of this amazing world that I’ve seen and experienced.

What’s an interesting or unique fact that people may not know about you?

I grew up in a mixed family and have 8 siblings. I loved always having people around as a child, someone to play with when I was young, go to the mall with when I got a little older, and family to lean on and support now that we’re adults. It seems a little surprising to me that I now have an only child of my own, but at least I don’t have to worry about settling fights when one child steals the other’s clothes to wear. Or was that just my childhood? ;)

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received that you’d like to share?

“Don’t settle for what you have and don’t stop working for what you want.” This advice has become my mantra and is what keeps me motivated to continue growing, learning, improving, and taking chances. I don’t think I’ll ever feel settled or complacent – I love the grind and hustle because it’s so rewarding to see the RESULTS that come from it.

Do you have any hidden or unique talents?

Eh, not really, or none that comes to mind anyway. I guess marathoning could qualify but it’s not that unique.

What's your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job and why I love it so much, is that I’m able to see the direct results and positive impact that Legends Boxing has in so many people’s lives. I’m so thankful that I get to be part of that!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Nope. I’ve got nothin else. ;)
