New Year’s Fitness Resolutions

It’s a new year and time for some new resolutions. Whether you plan on becoming fit, losing weight, or just want to find a cool new hobby you’ll probably be looking into going to a gym. But if you’re one of those people who think that resolutions are a thing of the past, think again.

Have A Workout Buddy

Did you know that you’re more likely to keep your goals if you have someone hold you accountable, but not too many people? It’s been shown that professing your goals to the world can often have you running for the hills when it comes time to pay up on those promises. Having a productive, supportive buddy will ensure that you reach each and everyone (and maybe even more!) So how do you find and keep this tenuous balance – find a workout buddy! Make sure it’s someone you can reasonably rely on and who might have the same type of goals so that you can trek the journey together.

Join A Supportive Workout Group

If you don’t want to or can’t find a workout buddy, consider participating in a group. An exercise group can either be people in a class that you like (kickboxing, Zumba, etc.) or a group specific to your job or hobby. The beauty of a workout group is that you don’t have to know them, but you probably will come to have lifelong friends throughout the fitness area you chose.

Look Into A Personal Trainer

And if all else fails, you can always seek help and support through a fitness trainer or health professional. They’re perfect one-on-one buddies that help address not only your fitness goals but also your personal ones as well. If you’re having trouble eating because of your crazy lifestyle and thus are not losing the weight you’re trying to at the gym, talk to your trainer! Most of them have gone to school for exactly this and can help you prioritize, de-stress, and focus.
